#ShapermintCrewLove Series: Interview #10

Our #ShapermintCrewLoveSeries continues, and this time, we had the pleasure of interviewing Laura Kaminer. Discover what Laura loves about being one of the Shapermint Crew Brand Ambassadors.

You’re one of our Brand Ambassadors, part of the Shapermint Crew! What inspired you to join the Crew?

Oh, that’s simple, I love the products! I would never share something with my followers that I wouldn’t use myself. I was eager to partner with Shapermint because the ambassadors are real-life customers like me.

Interview Laura Kaminer 1What do you enjoy most about being on the Crew?

Even though I was already a customer before joining the crew, I only owned a few key pieces. Being on the crew has given me the opportunity to try out more of the great products Shapermint offers.

How do you want to shape change with us?

Shopping for undergarments doesn’t have to be dreadful or embarrassing. My goal is to relay the message that this process can actually be a fun, easy experience!

How do you define body positivity?

Having a pre-teen daughter has made me more aware than ever of my own body image. I’m careful not to use negative words to describe myself in order to set a positive example for her.

We’re learning together that loving others begins with loving ourselves.

Interview Laura Kaminer 2Self-love is especially important. Do you have any particular rituals or routines that spark self-love?

My daughter and I like to take walks together. Exercise is such a mood booster for me, and I’m teaching her that taking care of our body is a huge part of self-love. If I am ever struggling with something or just having a rough day, getting outside for a quick walk and changing my scenery always helps.

We absolutely love the fact that you use social media as a liberating force to celebrate body positivity and shapers out there. Are there any women on social media who inspire you to be your best self?

There are so many inspiring voices on social media, but one of my favorites to follow is Candice Cameron Bure. I’ve been a fan since her Full House days, and I admire her success as an actress, author, and entrepreneur. She has overcome her own issues with body image and always shares a message of self-love and positivity.

Interview Laura Kaminer 3How important has stocking up on basics been to you during the quarantine?

For me, being confident is just as much about how I FEEL in my clothes as it is how I LOOK. Keeping quality basics on hand is key to staying confident and comfortable.

What are your top tips for breaking out of a fashion/style rut?

That’s a great question! My wardrobe is full of timeless classics, but at the change of each season, I like to revamp my closet by doing these few things-I reorganize for the current weather, donate items that haven’t been worn or don’t fit, and collect a few new trendy pieces to add to the mix. This keeps my style current and in order.

What is your favorite Shapermint style? How do you like to style it?

Interview Laura Kaminer 4The Empetua® High-Waisted Active Shaping Leggings are one of my favorites. They are flattering and so comfortable! I like to pair them with a tank or hoodie and sneakers. It’s the perfect fit for working out or just hanging out!

Want to share anything else?

A while back I heard one of my mentors say, “We don’t need to compare ourselves with other people, we don’t need to compete with other people…we just need to be satisfied with who God created us to be.” At 42, I feel like I have finally embraced my evolving purpose and am genuinely happy with who I am, imperfections and all. I hope that my successes and failures can encourage other women to find their own purpose and embrace who they were created to be.
