4 Simple Ways You Can Shape A Kinder World

Plot twist: we could all do with a little more kindness right now. What that looks like might vary from person to person, but one thing’s for sure: kindness has the power to change people’s minds and hearts, and to remind us all of the things we share in common, even when it’s tempting to focus on the differences between us.

Truekind by Shapermint understands the responsibility we all have to one another, which is why they’ve partnered with Bottomless Closet to support disadvantaged women as they join the workforce with confidence and dignity. In honor of World Kindness Day, we’ve rounded up a few simple ways you can also spread positivity in the world.

1) Reach Out

Reach Out
Your schedule is probably packed, but taking just a few minutes out of your day to call a friend or family member, or shoot them an uplifting text checking in, can be all it takes to put a smile on their face. Even sharing a simple meme can be a lighthearted way to connect and spread kindness with those you care about. The phrase “thinking of you” really does have the power to turn someone’s day around!

2) Compliment Someone

Compliment Someone
Who doesn’t like being complimented? But while all of us love hearing that someone likes our outfit or our shade of lipstick, try challenging yourself to think of non-physical things to call out. For example, you might tell your barista that her upbeat attitude always energizes you in the morning, or you might tell your spouse that their sense of humor brightens even your most stressful day.

3) Pay it Forward

Pay it Forward
In the drive-thru line or at the coffee shop, why not pay it forward to the person behind you? Random acts of kindness can have a huge impact on a stranger’s day, especially in the current climate when so many people are experiencing rough patches. A little selfless forethought can go a long way, and maybe even inspire others to keep the kindness train going with a gesture of their own.

4) Give Back

Give Back
Whether it’s through your time or your wallet, donating to a cause you feel passionately about is one of the kindest things you can do, and one of the most effective ways to be the change you wish to see in the world. Do some research on local, national, and international organizations doing meaningful work, then consider how you might be able to help (organizing a fundraiser, in-person volunteering, a small monthly donation, etc.).

Well, there you have it! Being kind doesn’t have to be some grand gesture...it can be as simple or elaborate as you want. The point is to make sure it comes from the heart. On World Kindness Day and every day, we hope you keep an eye out for small opportunities to spread joy, gratitude, and kindness in the world. Because every little bit counts.
